Commission Process
People often wonder how the commission process works. It’s actually very simple, and is focused on making sure you get exactly the portrait you want.
The first thing to do is choose a photo, or even a few photos. We can discuss which might work best once I know what you have in mind, but photo quality is key, (see my section on photographs for more information).
Send me an email with your photos. We can then discuss what size you would like, whether it is best suited to pastel or coloured pencil, and when I might be able to do the drawing.
When it is time for your slot I will contact you to check you are still happy with the image selection, and I then take a 50% deposit and begin work on your drawing. I may post progress shots to my social media (unless agreed otherwise in advance, for example if it is for a surprise gift). Regardless I will keep you updated with the drawing’s progress.
Once the portrait is finished and you are happy with it I ask for the remaining balance to be paid. The drawing is given a conservation grade mount and backboard and securely packed before being shipped to you.
